As it reads on Wikipedia, Shibuya is “known as one of the fashion centers of Japan, particularly for young people, and as a major nightlife area”. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time there, but we did get the chance to see the famous Hachiko meeting area.
Hachiko is the name of a dog who, for more than 10 years straight, waited for his owner at Shibuya Station every day. Because of his loyalty, the dog eventually became a national celebrity, and a statue of of him was built adjacent to the station. There’s even a US movie about Hachiko!
Unfortunately, the place was too crowded for me to get a good picture of the statue, but I did manage to snap a few shots of people dancing wearing funny classic western outfits (not sure what that was about, but they were having fun).
