Control Your Phone with Address Book

If you find thumbing your phone’s keypad is too cumbersome, you can use Address Book that comes with Mac OS X to make life easier. All you need is phone that is supported by iSync and a bluetooth connection on your Mac then do the following:

  1. Run Address Book
  2. Click the Bluetooth button and pair your device.
  3. Click on the left of any number (in this case the word “work”).
  4. You can chose to dial or send an SMS using your phone.
  5. As long as your device is paired, any incoming calls or SMS will be displayed on screen -almost like instant messaging.

Extra Tip: If you happen to be using Quicksilver, there’s a plugin that allows you to display a phone number printed in large on your screen without having to run the application.
